The Harvest Notes are up, including a reminder that discounted pre-registration for members is open, but only until December 1st. After that date, the prices increase even for returning members – and we open registrations to the general public. Quite a few people registered at the Closing Event, so if you are thinking of registering for next year – do it quickly.
And please don’t forget to fill out the Hazon Survey. We will use the results when speaking to the farmers at the end of November and through the winter to plan for next season. The survey closes for good on November 30th, so please provide your input soon!
Don’t forget that this week is our closing event – Farmer’s Market, Cider Pressing, and a chance to ask the farmers questions. The whole schedule was in last week’s email and is on the website.
The Harvest Guesstimate for this week says we are likely to get Turnips, Onions, Leeks, Bok Choi, Butternut Squash, and Sage. Winter squash and sage is a classic combination. There is a 50% chance of Spinach, Brussels Sprouts, and Romanesco in the final delivery. Two ways you might not have thought to eat brussels sprouts are in a slaw and roasted (try subbing slivered onion for the shallots), both of which hold well and so are good Shabbos options.
