Harvest Notes for the last delivery of October are available. If you have feedback about the CSA experience so far, the Core Group would love to hear from you. Please email us or talk to a Core Goup member at the pickup. We’re not there the whole time, best times to find us are right at the start and again at the end.
Don’t forget that this week there is a Farmer’s Market at the JCC from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. If you want something extra, or your friends want to try the good produce, dairy, pickles, and jams from the farm, the farmstand will be set up just inside the front doors to the JCC.
In this week’s share, the farmers say we can expect onions, winter squash, and kale, and there is a 50% chance of komatsuna, beets, leeks, turnips, garlic, rutabaga, bok choy, daikon radishes, and kohlrabi. If you are not familiar with komatsuna, click on the name for more information. It’s a vitamin-packed green that makes a great side dish when sauteed.
Please take a few minutes to complete an online survey about your CSA share: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/hazoncsa2012 Choose “West Hartford CT” to make sure the information is associated with Jewish Local Greens. You will get a special question just for our members about items you would like to see in next year’s share, and plenty of places to provide feedback even if you are not sure you will join next year. We’re just as interested in hearing from people who won’t rejoin, or who are unsure, as we are from people who will renew. It helps us to work with the farmers for next year’s season. Your responses to the Hazon CSA survey help us, your farm, and Hazon make the program better for you next season. We truly value your thoughts and feedback and are eager to receive your responses and comments.
