Harvest Notes for July 19th

The Harvest Notes are posted.  You can learn about the Thai Basil and Paste Tomatoes that we received this week.  Do you need an idea about cooking your beets?  Peel and roast them, then add some of the fresh chopped dill (not the stems) for an intriguing and sophisticated treat.

The farmers predict that we will receive the following:  Beets, Cauliflower, Cucumbers, Dill, Garlic, and Kale.  (Check out the new recipe links on our Kale Recipes page.)  We have a 50% chance of receiving some or all of the following:  Basil, Broccoli florets, Kohlrabi, and… drumroll please…. Tomatoes!

Remember that the farm grows heirloom tomatoes, so you may get different colours and shapes than you are used to finding in the grocery.  Read up on Adamah’s Tomato Patch to find out the varieties you may see, and we’ll have a photo spread at the pickup for you to check against.
