Did you like the cucumbers we received this week? Apparently deer like cukes too – read about it in this week’s Harvest Notes!
The farmers said that they aren’t certain, but believe that this week’s share will contain Broccoli, Cabbage, Chard, Cilantro, Cucumbers, Garlic Scapes, Kale, and Raddichio. If your kids have been begging for kale chips, they will be happy this week! Plan ahead to serve the chard with salmon or grilled chicken. Last week’s post had several suggestions for cabbage salads that should stay cool and fresh all weekend, even if made on Friday afternoon. If you’re grilling, toss the raddichio on and then make a salad out of it. At the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center, grilled garlic scapes are chopped into a refreshing quinoa or grain-based salad. Think of all the ways this week’s share will help you beat the heat!
